51306 - Webcams: No end to Snowvember!

Un-be-lie-va-ble! The snow just keeps coming in the southern and eastern Alps. Even the trees are bowing under the weight of all the fresh snow! After a short breather yesterday the snow has come back even stronger. Below are scenes reminiscent of last year's crazy snowfall in Austria!

Snow chaos in France

Yesterday, for a change, the heavy snowfall favoured France and Switzerland, with a full metre of fresh snow in most places. This news was welcome to skiers and snowboarders but not so much to the 300,000 houses that lost electricity, or to the people trying to drive on chaotic snow-covered roads. A 63-year-old man was in his car when it was struck by a tree, killing him. Weather in these regions has since stabilised, but the Dolomites and southern Alps in Austria are awaiting their turn. Another 100cm of snow is forecast for tomorrow morning, and after a break in the afternoon the snow is expected to pick up again Sunday.

About Danielle

Born and raised in the ski paradise of Vancouver, Canada, I learned to ski before I can remember, balancing precariously on my parents’ skis as they sailed down the hill. I started snowboarding in my teens and am now delighted to be exploring everything Europe’s ski scene has to offer!
