51018 - SNOW ALERT: Check out the webcams!

It's been snowing all day in the Alps, and the highest mountain peaks have been dusted with a welcomed coat of white. High temperatures mean the snow line is still hovering around 2500 metres above sea level so the valleys will have to wait a while longer before receiving their powder dump from Mother Nature. But it looks like a great start to ski season is on the way!

Snow on the highest peaks

Something to cheer us up mid-week: white webcams! A dusting of fresh snow fell in many places in the Alps today, good news for the glaciers that have been opening for the ski season over the past few weeks. In fact, ski season is already underway at Pitztal Glacier, Stubai Glacier and Sölden-Hochsölden, to name a few. Sadly, the sun is forecast to shine again as of tomorrow so full-on winter doesn't seem to be here just yet.
