A long tradition of half board ski holidays at the chalet hotel La Marmotte

As if to prove its top notch reputation, Les Gets now boasts 3 luxury four-star hotels, two of which belong to the same hotel group: the chalet hotels La Marmotte and La Tapiaz. The chalet hotel La Marmotte has been welcoming clients to the heart of Les Gets on a half board basis since 1936! Run by the Mirigay family, this large, attractive chalet hotel set at the bottom of the slopes, now offers 48 charming, cozy rooms all organized around a central lounge with a huge fireplace. In 2000, La Marmotte opened its well-being area with spa, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and beauty treatments – just what you need to top off the perfect day on the sunny slopes in the Portes du Soleil.

La Tapiaz, the latest luxury chalet hotel in Les Gets

The new chalet hotel La Tapiaz is connected to its big sister, La Marmotte, by a corridor, so you can enjoy all the luxury services without having to put a foot outside in the cold! La Tapiaz is a pocket-sized hotel with only 8 rooms even more luxurious and chic than the rooms in La Marmotte. This is clearly the right hotel for tourists looking for luxurious skiing holidays in Les Gets. La Tapiaz opened in 2011 and already has a good reputation for being chic, welcoming and stylish.

Half board in Les Gets never looked so tempting

Customers who opt for half board in La Marmotte or La Tapiaz in Les Gets will be able to dine at the following restaurants within the hotel:

  • The Pivotte, a restaurant serving Savoyard specialties where you can enjoy the famous Savoy Matafans, (delicious potato fritters) and of course fondue or raclette. Here the cheese is melted in the fireplace, as is the local tradition!
  • The Bisktacha, a mountain brewery set around an indoor BBQ. Fusion food and influences from all over the world are the highlight here with delights such as beef kofta with mint or vegetarian risotto with cuttlefish ink...
  • La Piste Noire: the dishes prepared here by the well-known chef, Camille Cimbault, are inspired by the best recipes of French cuisine, while giving them a welcome touch of modernity. Here, fine produce are the base of all dishes: lobster, Le Touquet potatoes and Iberian pork filets...

In short, whatever you fancy for dinner after a long day on the slopes in the Portes du Soleil, there will inevitably be a table waiting for you in one of these 3 great restaurants in France. Half board will never look back!

Being lucky enough to have parents who were crazy about skiing, my love for the mountains started when I was 4 years old on our first family ski holiday to Austrian ski resort of Obergurl. One ski holiday a year was never enough and tears rolled down my face as I looked out the back window of the car on the drive down the valley on the way home!
