Ski areas Vorarlberg

Vorarlberg is Austria's westernmost state, bordering Germany, Switzerland and Tyrol. Its more than 30 different ski resorts add up to more than 1,000 km of slopes. Vorarlberg has a diverse range of winter sports options. From large, popular ski resorts that attract many visitors every year to undiscovered gems where there are never any long queues for the ski lifts. Besides skiing and snowboarding, the state offers excellent hiking opportunities.

Vorarlberg is home to Austria's largest interconnected ski area. Ski Arlberg has over 300 kilometres of pistes, is extremely snow-sure and offers excellent skiing for every level of expertise. The most well-known resorts are Lech am Arlberg and St Anton am Arlberg. Not far from this area is the very child-friendly Sonnenkopf. Even in the spring holidays, it is never really crowded here. Another nice and relatively quiet ski destination is Brandnertal, where you can ski on over 50 km of slopes. For even more tranquillity, you can visit the Großes Walsertal, where non-skiers will also find plenty to do. Also recommended is the Montafon ski region with its charming villages. Vorarlberg is a lot quieter than the neighbouring federal states of Salzburg and Tyrol, but is well worth a visit thanks to its central location and extensive winter sports facilities.
