The ski resort of Zinal was discovered a long time ago. To mountaineers, the village is just perfect because of its location close to many 4000 metre high giants such as Weisshorn, Zinalrothorn and Obergabelhorn. The ‘snow-guaranteed’ ski area of Zinal provides more than 70 kilometres of ski slopes. It is also very popular among freeriders; in fact there is a special avalanche training centre to increase awareness among the more adventurous skiers! Cross-country skiers can enjoy about 20 kilometres of tracks surrounding the village.
