Ski areas Alpes du Sud

The Southern Alps cover the south-eastern part of the French Alps. During your winter sports holiday here, you can usually look forward to plenty of sunshine, which shouldn't affect the snow quality. The region boasts an ideal mix of sun, snow and French atmosphere. Because it's a bit further away by car, it's a slightly less popular destination for the British. Popular destinations in the Southern Alps are Serre Chevalier, Les Orres and Isola 2000.

In the Southern Alps you can find both smaller, charming destinations and bigger villages with large apartment complexes. The region is very varied; there are ski resorts with hundreds of kilometres of slopes but also smaller, cosier areas. A big advantage of the ski resorts in this region is that the prices are slightly lower than in other parts of France. There are several budget destinations, such as Superdévoluy and Risoul, where you can still enjoy winter sports at a reasonable price. Also, the slopes of the Southern Alps are usually not too crowded.
