Ski area Zinal

All the ski resorts in this valley offer splendid panoramic views and their inhabitants are extremely hospitable and welcome visitors with open arms. However, this is the only thing that the resorts have in common. The atmosphere and architecture are very different in each. Chandolin has the largest ski area with the widest choice of slopes. Grimintz is an old farming village where the slopes are generally uncrowded making it particularly family-friendly and a pleasure to ski. With a lot of ski in/ski out accommodation, this resort is truly a hidden gem. St. Luc is situated between the first two and is less attractive visually. Vercorin is a small oasis of peace and quiet, adapted to tourists looking for a more relaxed ski holiday. Zinal, which is situated below a glacier and is the last village in the valley Val D'Anniviers, offers the best choice of activities.

The five resorts share a total of over 215km of pristine ski slopes that make up the Val d'Anniviers ski area. It goes without saying that the choice is just endless for all types of winter sports fanatics. There is, however, a particularly high number of red runs here, meaning intermediate skiers can spend long days practicing and progressing. With 4 snow parks and plenty of other facilities, this area is very popular with snowboarders. The Zinal ski area offers high, wide slopes of varying difficulty and also has a reputation for excellent, easily accessible off-piste skiing. Not forgetting, of course, the dedicated 100 hectare freeride area which is the first of its kind in Switzerland. There is also an Avalanche Training Centre which is open to everyone. There is some excellent off-the-beaten-track off-piste skiing here waiting to be discovered - only with a trained, local guide of course!
