Oppdal in short
-
Height: 550 metres
-
Amazing cross-country trails
-
Plenty of activities besides skiing
-
One of Norway's largest ski resorts
Oppdal sits at an altitude of 550m above sea level and is the biggest mountain village in Norway. However, despite its size, Oppdal enjoys astonishingly few crowds. In fact, much of the accommodation is only occuped (by Norwegians) during weekends and holidays. In addition to skiing and cross-country skiing, Oppdal is the perfect place to try curling, ice climbing, horseback riding, sledging and dogsledding. When the weather's not cooperating, you can check out the Oppdal museum and learn a bit about the history of this Norwegian town.
Oppdal is the northernmost ski resort in Norway and, consequently, has the best snow conditions. 28 pistes served by 17 lifts are complemented by the best off-piste skiing in the country. Snowboarders can enjoy the two snow parks, and party animals will enjoy the après-ski scene. Just 5 minutes from the pistes you'll find a varied assortment of restaurants, shops, charming hotels and even a campsite (brr!).
