Nice town with wonderful ski area
We've been to Livigno a few times now and always enjoyed it. The ski area isn't large, but if you don't mind skiing the same slope more than once, you can spend a nice week here. Make that an amazing week if there's fresh snow - there is fantastic off-piste skiing, even for beginners! The shops in the village have great bargains.
Great value ski resort
Livigno is a special ski resort because it is a tax-free zone. As a result there are very many stores selling alcohol and cigarettes and also clothes with some expensive brands. Additionally, you can pay normal prices for a delicious 3 course Italian dinner menu. Next on the yes list is the great snow. The altitude of the village of Livigno makes it very snow-sure. A disadvantage is that it is not easily accessible.
Shop and ski !
Shop till you drop in Livigno - everything is so mcuh cheaper. You can go helisking here - if you have enough pocket money left! Apparently the deep powder snow is outof this world! On the Mottolino there is a huge snow park - where you can stand and watch the crazy young crowd doing their thing! SHouldnt push it i know but you have to try the beer here at the highest brewery in Europe. It can get pretty cold here - hence the nickname little Tibet! Be prepared!
Not very practical for kids
Not the best resort for families who want to ski together as you have to plan your routes carefully to not end up on a tricky red or black run with the kids! Bit of a rush around in the morning as not all the ski-schools start in the same place - my wife had to go off alone on a packed bus to find her class while I dealt with the kids - felt a bit like a normal day at home - going off to work, dropping kids off at school!!! We had outstanding snow - not sure it's like that all the time but hey - we were happy!
Perfect ski holidays
After years of skiing in France, we heard about this resort being really super and decided to make the change! Really long transfer time but worth it as Livigno is absolutely delightful. Plenty of nice shops in a lovely pedestrian area with cozy bars and restaurants everywhere. Great wide slopes perfect for our young kids who wanted to ski with us - they skied well, we felt safe and the slopes were not even that busy. In many bars, they offer snacks when you buy drinks which is nice.
