Ski areas Auvergne

Auvergne is located in the heart of France, in the Massif Central. This high-altitude region, full of mountains and plateaus, was created by volcanism, among others. The best example is Puy de Dôme, a volcano near Clermont-Ferrand with an altitude of 1,464 m. Auvergne's ski resorts are located more to the south of the region - a place to go if you want to experience something different from the Alps!

Auvergne is less touristy and crowded than the French Alps. Although the area is less snow-sure, you don't have to make any concessions concerning winter sports. In total, you will find some 200 kilometres of slopes here, most of which are in the ski resorts of Super Besse, Le Lioran and Le Mont Dore. Cross-country skiers can also explore hundreds of kilometres of trails. Do you want to experience winter sports amidst ancient volcanoes? Then you definitely need to visit Auvergne in the Massif Central!
