Ski area Sunshine Village Banff

Sunshine Village Banff in short

  • Height: 1658 - 2730 metres
  • Long, sunny seasons with average yearly snowfall around 10m
  • Short lift queues
  • Modern facilities with mostly high-speed quad chairs

Sunshine Village is nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, straddling the Continental Divide and just 15 minutes from Banff. You can’t beat the views of the surrounding mountains, notably Mt. Assiniboine, dubbed the "Canadian Matterhorn". Slopes at Sunshine Village reach an altitude of almost 3000m, some of the highest in Canada. The ski area has a vertical rise of over 1000m which gets doused in piles of the light, dry champagne powder for which the Rockies are famous.

The average annual snowfall at Sunshine Village is a whopping 9 metres, so the ski area definitely has enough powder to go around! With ample terrain spread over three mountains (Goat's Eye, Lookout and Mount Standish) and accessible off-piste options, this is a dream Canadian ski destination. While there is a small village at the ski area base with ski-in, ski-out options, many visitors to Sunshine Village choose to stay at nearby Banff and take advantage of the location to explore the beautiful natural surroundings in the world-famous Banff National Park. Sunshine Village is less than a 2-hour drive from Calgary International Airport, which has direct flights to the UK.
