La Rosiere – the best-kept secret in the French Alps

Picture empty pistes. Good. Now add to that no lift queues (even in peak school holiday periods), seriously good powder, an excellent snow park and sun-soaked slopes. Imagine access to Italy on your skis, without even needing to take your passport. Think breakfast of pain au chocolat in France, pizza in the quaint town of La Thuile for lunch and back in La Rosiere for apres-ski. These two resorts - La Thuile in Italy and La Rosiere in France share a ski pass and are home to some of the Alps’ most well-kept secret slopes.

No hassle ski holidays in La Rosiere with Bura

Make the most of your week in La Rosiere by staying with Bura Snow. A week with the Bura team takes all the hassle out of your ski holidays. They host guests in a fully-catered wooden chalet nestled amongst the snowy trees. With ski pass and ski and snowboard hire included in the price, your biggest dilemma in the morning is how many home-made pancakes to scoff for breakfast before heading up the slopes in La Rosiere. Think affordable accommodation, run by people just like you - snow addicts, beginner boarders or those looking to take in the views, whilst eating copious amounts of cheese fondue and drinking vin chaud* in one of the super restaurants in La Rosiere.

It’s not just about skiing with Bura in La Rosiere

The Bura team can organise activities beside snowboarding and skiing - those more intrepid explorers can try their hand at heli-skiing, paret-ing (think charging down the slopes on wooden sledges after taking the last lift up the mountain) or, ice diving. Those looking for an amble to take in the glorious Alpine views, can take a St. Bernard dog for a stroll. Historically, St. Bernard dogs get their name from this area between France and Italy, the Little Great Saint Bernard Pass (Espace San Bernardo), and Hannibal was thought to have marched through this region with his elephants.

No skiing masses in La Rosiere

The European skiing masses have thankfully not yet discovered the French ski resort of La Rosiere, despite its many qualities including great skiing and snowboarding in a privileged, south-facing location in the heart of the Savoie. Located at 1850 meters, La Rosiere has its own ski area, the Espace San Bernardo ski area, which offers over 150 km of relatively wide, sunny ski slopes. At high altitudes such as this, lack of snow is rarely an issue so you can book your next ski holidays in La Rosiere with Bura Snow with complete peace of mind. Parfait!

About Nikki

Being lucky enough to have parents who were crazy about skiing, my love for the mountains started when I was 4 years old on our first family ski holiday to Austrian ski resort of Obergurl. One ski holiday a year was never enough and tears rolled down my face as I looked out the back window of the car on the drive down the valley on the way home!
