Ski lessons, the alternatives!

Are you looking for an alternative to the rather old-fashioned, text-book style teaching methods of French ski schools? Are you frustrated by misunderstandings largely due to “ze” French ski instructors’ rather strong accent? After witnessing the disappointment of young kids who, after 6 days of ski school, didn’t “earn” their shiny medal, I decided to look into alternative ski lessons. I’ve come up with a selection of high quality, independent ski schools and will feature each one in articles over the coming weeks. The first of which is the Masterclass British Ski School classes in Alpe d'Huez.

Who are Masterclass British Ski School

Masterclass British Ski School is a small group of friendly, British, independent ski teachers whose aim is to help you improve your skiing technique, whatever your level. The 3 teachers are all fully trained and qualified and have years of experience under their belts. Two of them are ex-BASI trainers and have the full British Association of Snowsport teaching qualification and the required French equivalent. Stuart Adamson started the Masterclass ski school in the popular French ski resort of Alpe d'Huez over 20 years ago. His aim was, and still is, to offer British skiers an alternative to the institutional style ski schools and the opportunity to take ski lessons and have intensive coaching with some of the top British-trained ski instructors.

Masterclass British Ski School – what they can do for you…

The Masterclass ski lessons are completely tailor-made. Whether you’re new to skiing and need to gain confidence to move on from greens and blues to tackling some red runs, or you’re more advanced and need coaching to help you really enjoy black runs and off-piste skiing, the ski lessons are adapted to your needs. There’s no pressure to keep up or frustration waiting for the weaker skiers as is often the case in larger, mixed-level groups. Encouragement, understanding and clear tuition is what Masterclass can give you. There’s no queuing at the ski lifts either as you will follow your teacher through the ski school gate!

A Masterclass ski lesson to suit everyone

The Masterclass team have thought of every kind of ski lesson possible. Private ski lessons, group ski lessons, family ski lessons and the latest addition is the “sundowner” lessons which start at 4pm making the most of the quiet slopes as everyone comes back down the mountain. Family ski lessons are available for up to 8 people and children are accepted from 7 years old. These ski lessons, in particular, are a great way of spending quality time all together while learning and making progress at the same time.

Where are Masterclass British Ski School

You will find the Masterclass British Ski School in Alpe d'Huez, one of the most popular ski resorts in the French Alps. The Alpe d'Huez Grand Domaine ski area gives access to 240 km of downhill skiing spread over 120 ski runs very fairly shared out for all levels of skiing. The ski resort itself is lively, well-known for its reasonable prices, friendly atmosphere and excellent après-ski. Find out everything you need to know about Alpe d’Huez. About Nikki

Being lucky enough to have parents who were crazy about skiing, my love for the mountains started when I was 4 years old on our first family ski holiday to Austrian ski resort of Obergurl. One ski holiday a year was never enough and tears rolled down my face as I looked out the back window of the car on the drive down the valley on the way home!
