1-year-old snowboarder Cash Rowley woes her audience

1-year-old-snowboarder Cash Rowley

A few days before her first birthday, little Cash Rowley has already been bitten by the snowboarding bug. This American toddler is so cute she even made it onto the BBC last week. No doubt the child of two fanatic snowboarders, the toddler has us older winter sport enthusiasts jealous of this amazing natural talent. Cash weighs just 8kg, so small that the parents decided not to put a helmet on her because it would have made her topple over! Would you let your kids start skiing or snowboarding when they're that young, or would you wait? Leave us your thoughts in the comment section below!

Mini tot learns to snowboard for the first time

The girl's a natural! 1-year-old Cash Rowley has strapped on a snowboard for the first time in her life and we have to admit, it looks like she's got what it takes to be the next big snowboarding star! She's cool and collected and she's even got some good knee bends going on... and is that a little smile we saw there at the very end?

How young is too young to learn skiing or snowboarding?

Every skier or snowboarder dreams of one day passing their love for the sport onto their offspring. But what is the right age for a child to learn to ski or snowboard? Thanks to their big heads, young kids have a tough centre of balance to contend with, which makes it hard to stay upright on the snowboard. Some experts recommend starting kids out on skis or ice skates first and moving them to the snowboard later. That way, they'll get used to the feeling of sliding on the snow. But the most important thing is to have fun. If your kids are learning to love the snow, then you can give yourself a pat on the back!

About Danielle

Born and raised in the ski paradise of Vancouver, Canada, I learned to ski before I can remember, balancing precariously on my parents’ skis as they sailed down the hill. I started snowboarding in my teens and am now delighted to be exploring everything Europe’s ski scene has to offer!
