Getting from the airport to the ski resort

Once you get to Carinthia, it’s quick and easy to reach your accommodation. Carinthian Transfer is a stress-free way to get to popular destinations such as Bad Kleinkirchheim and Nassfeld. Transfers to Bad Kleinkirchheim or Nassfeld each take about an hour, and can be pre-booked online. Prices vary, generally starting at around £50. Carinthian Station Shuttle provides help with connections when travelling by train. It’s also possible to rent a car at Klagenfurt Airport if you want a bit more freedom once you're there.

Flying with EasyJet

EasyJet is a budget airline so don't expect too many frills, and be sure to check the baggage restrictions before you go on your flight. A standard ticket allows you to bring one piece of baggage that measures up to 56x45x25cm. You can bring additional hold luggage for an extra fee, as well as skis, boots and snowboards, which count as “small sports equipment”. You’ll pay £37 if you book your sports equipment online, as opposed to £47 if you do it at the airport. For more details, check the EasyJet baggage policy, their prices and their additional instructions for bringing sports equipment. Our article on packing for a budget flight to a ski holiday can also give you some handy tips on how to fit everything.

Skiing for all ages

A wide variety of slopes and the longest floodlit piste in the Alps mean you'll never get bored skiing in Carinthia. Carinthia is the perfect place for family ski holidays, with discounts for the little ones and specially adapted activities. The Top Ski Pass Carinthia & East Tyrol grants access to 30 ski areas in Carinthia and East Tyrol, making up over 800km of pistes across the two states. And this combined ski pass starts at just €222, or €111 for children. For those looking to explore away from the crowds, there is seemingly endless off-piste terrain and some excellent ski touring trails.

Kick back and relax in Klagenfurt

Klagenfurt itself is a pretty town set against the picturesque backdrop of the mountains and lakes. On the border between Austria, Italy and Slovenia, the capital of Carinthia has a laid-back, happy vibe, with an emphasis on fresh cuisine and savouring the good things in life. The historical centre has buildings dating back to medieval times, and each year the city lights up for the annual Christmas market, just one of the many festive Advent markets you'll find in Carinthia.
