Baad in short

  • Smallest and highest village in Kleinwalsertal
  • Great snow conditions
  • Perfect for walkers

At the end of the Kleinwalsertal valley lies the small village of Baad. At 1244 meters of altitude, the village is perched above the vast valley. It is one of the 3 ski ares in the Kleinwalsertal along with Mittelberg and Riezlern Hirschegg. In Baad there is very little traffic since the village is surrounded by mountains meaning there is a lovely calm atmosphere here.

Another interesting fact is that the valley is only accessible by a road located in Germany Oberstdorf. Baad is a small village and is located in a beautiful area, where one can walk or cycle on the endless, beautiful pathways. The walk through the forest, from Baad to Mittelberg is highly recommended. St. Martin is the mountain church and watches over the village from its position slightly higher up.

The Kleinwalsertal is very snow-sure area and it is so-called "Schneeloch". A Schneeloch is a name for an area with a more than average snow fall! When on the other side of the valley almost no snow has fallen, in Baad there is always a thick layer of fresh snow. This is due to the geographical proximity of the surrounding mountains, combined with a prevailing wind direction. In the surrounding villages you have access to very good winter sports. The ski areas of the Horn Walmendinger and Kanzelwand are compact, varied and suitable for all levels.

Baad is an ideal destination for those seeking tranquility, party animals will have to go elsewhere! If you like rest but also hiking and cross-country skiing, you're in the right spot in Kleinwalsertal. The valley features five classic cross-country trails with a total length of 42 kilometers. For walkers there are 50 kilometers of trails which end at the Gottesackerkapelle up to 2000 meters of altitude. Sore legs guaranteed but well worth the pain!
