Over 50 years ago, Hotel Alex was established by former ski- and mountainguide Alex Perren and his Austrian wife Gisela. Together they built up a jewel in Zermatt. Currently, the hotel is being run by daughter Christina and her husband René. Hotel Alex has 84 rooms, of which 23 suites. The suites range from 36 up to 75m2. All of the rooms have a fireplace, ensuite bathroom with jacuzzi, cable TV, W-Lan, safe, dressing gown and hair dryer.
As for cluinary delights, Hotel Alex offers restaurant Alex Grill and wine cellar Bodega Bacchus. Chef Fredy Fischer runs Alex Grill's kitchen. The restaurants specialities are meat and fish from the grill. Bodega Bacchus offers wine tasting for groups up to 22 people. The cellar has a large variety of wines from all over the world. Together with the wine, local specialities are being served. One of the hotspots of Zermatt is the Alex Lounge Bar, thanks to its unique atmosphere. The "Highlander" corner serves a variety of blended and single malt whisky's. You can enjoy live music twice a week. For a relaxing afternoon offers Hotel Alex a spa and wellness area with swimming pool, whirlpool, Finnish and bio saunas, tepidarium, indoor tennis and squash courts and a modern gym.
