Quiet, car-free centre
Far on one side of the ski area of Scuol lies the idyllic village Ftan. In 1720 this village was 'blown away' by a dust avalanche and then between 1723 and 1835 it was also destroyed by fire three times. Some old buildings survived these catastrophes and today are the pearls of the village. Fortunately, the newer buildings are just as beautiful and the village is wonderfully peaceful. There is no through traffic and there are no bars and discos, just a few excellent hotels and restaurants.
