Andermatt in short

  • Challenging ski area for serious skiers
  • Endless off-piste and ski mountaineering options
  • Sunny and yet snow is perfectly guaranteed
  • Not suitable for beginners

Andermatt is characterised by its compact buildings. The centre is home to a few shops and restaurants. Through the years Andermatt was outrun by the neighbouring ski area in Wallis and Graubünden, which opened its doors to other winter sports activities creating a paradise for off-piste lovers and ski mountaineering fanatics. Developments in this Swiss village are happening in rapid succession; a few years ago the village was sold to an Egyptian millionaire who plans to turn Andermatt into a new jet set destination!

Ski holidays in the Swiss Alps offer top-notch cuisine, impeccable service and high-altitude skiing with modern lifts. The following ski resorts are all within easy reach of Zurich Airport, one of the major hubs to the Swiss Alps.... More ›

There's nothing more heartbreaking than arriving at your long-awaited ski holiday only to find brown hills and a couple of cows grazing! When you've scheduled holiday time, invested money and spent hours researching your ski area and accommodation, the last thing you want is a ski area with unreliable snow cover. The good news is that you don't have to be completely at the mercy of the elements this year. Switzerland is known for its especially high-altitude ski areas and the following ski areas hav... More ›

Après-ski is an integral part of skiing and shouldn’t be overlooked when planning your holiday! Conveniently placed umbrella bars at the edge of the ski pistes remind us that we deserve a drink or two at the end of a strenuous day of skiing or snowboarding. Now, après-ski fiends will be happy to learn that they can keep the party going off the slopes as well with the Alps’ very first après-ski train! The Après-Ski Express takes revellers between Andermatt and Disentis in a specially re... More ›
