The typical mountain village of Montclar might look small, but there is certainly plenty to do and explore here. Montclar lies between the Northern Alps and Provence, just a two hour drive from the Mediterranean sea. It lies at the foot of the Dormillouse (2500 meters) mountain and is surrounded by a rolling landscape. The history of this village looks very determined. Montclar stood in four different places and each time the center was moved. As a result, many sites are scattered across the landscape. Some of these attractions include Saint Leger from the 13th century and the ruins of the old village.
The new town center of Montclar is next to the old one and is more focused on snow sports. Montclar is a family-friendly town with very little night life, however, there is plenty to do here. Montclar, you can ski of course, but you can also practice sledding and snowshoeing. In the village there is an indoor ice rink, a cinema and a wellness center. The newest part of Montclar has been built so that the facilities (nursery, restaurants and shops) are in the centre, so everything is together and easy to access. Some hotels and restaurants have the Famille Plus label meaning they have special facilities for families. There are good children's facilities in Montclar which makes it a great place for relaxed family ski holidays.
