Ski area La Mongie

The ski area the Domaine Tourmalet, at Barèges / La Mongie has 100 kilometers of slopes between 1400 and 2500 meters of altitude. The snow in the area is guaranteed by 173 snow cannons and over the last years, many old lift systems have been replaced by modern ski lifts. Beginners can do their thing on the slopes at La Laquete, advanced skiers will enjoy themselves more on the black run Coume Layse.

Besides good skiing on the slopes, there is also excellent off-piste skiing in La Mongie. For example, from the Pic du Midi de Bigorre there are several off-piste descents which you just have to try if you're up to it! However, you mustn't be afraid of heights as you literally throw yourself of the top of the mountain into the deep powder snow that seems to go on forever! It is highly recommended to use a guide in this area.
