Ski area Castle Mountain Resort

Castle Mountain is located in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, not too far from the US border. 8 bowls spread out over 2 mountains offer almost 100km of slopes to explore. There are no snow cannons at Castle Mountain but with over nine metres of annual snowfall on average, snow conditions are usually guaranteed to be decent. Because of its remote location, Castle Mountain is slow to get skied out and this is a good place to be on powder days.

Wide-open pistes higher up gradually become sinuous pistes that wind their way through the trees to the base of the mountain. There is a slow skiing area near the base for beginners and loads of long green and blue pistes, perfect for practising turns. A dozen double-black diamond chutes will keep expert skiers busy, while freeriders can explore off-piste terrain in the catskiing area - Castle Mountain touts itself as Alberta’s best catskiing destination (just remember to be prepared for avalanches when skiing in avalanche country). There is also a snow park with features of varying difficulty so everybody can have a go on the boxes and rails.
