It’s nearly March 17 again and time for everyone’s favourite holiday – St. Patrick’s Day! With festivities in every corner of the world from Buenos Aires to Tokyo, it would seem you don’t have to be remotely Irish to dress in green and enjoy this excuse for a big party. If you’ve booked your ski holidays for that week, don’t worry, there’s no chance of you missing out. While every self-respecting Irish pub in the Alps should be turning up the craic for this special occasion, here are Snowplaza’s top six picks. Dress in your favourite green article of clothing and grab a frothy pint of Guinness! Sláinte!

Val d’Isère

Everybody loves free stuff! Get yours at Val d’Isère, which kicks off the St. Paddy’s celebrations with a “golden coin hunt” – lifties handing out chocolate coins at the bottom of select chairlifts. Finish up the day with a St. Patrick’s Day concert hosted by the La Sauce association in the Tourist Office square Irish bar.

Max Pub, St. Johann in Tyrol

Conveniently located near the valley station of the Harschbichl, Max Pub is the logical starting point for your après-ski festivities at St. Johann in Tirol. A place that sees people dancing on tables even on a normal day, their St. Patrick’s Day party promises live music, ample drinks and savage craic.

Scotland Yard Pub, Mayrhofen

Everybody knows that the first rule of St. Patrick’s Day is to wear a bit of green, and the Scotland Yard Pub at Mayrhofen will reward the properly dressed with a free shot to get the party going. Patrons of all ages can enjoy live acoustic music by El Chupanibre and an atmosphere that’s been described as “mad as a box of frogs.”

Kosis-Fun-Food Bar, Zillertal Valley

Party until the wee hours (2am, to be precise) at the Kosis-Fun-Food Bar in the Zillertal Valley. This cosy bar, complete with fireplace and terrace, will offer live music from Cash-Money-Brothers XL and lots of green-themed paraphernalia to get you in the spirit of the day.
