Snowbombing 2017: Mayrhofen’s legendary alpine music festival

S'no missing Snowbombing! This event of epic proportions is a dream come true. Set in the Mayrhofen ski resort and featuring some big-name headliners, the Snowbombing music festival takes the mountain by storm once a year and transforms this gem of a resort into Europe’s biggest party in the snow. The Zillertal hills come alive with the sound of music as thousands of concertgoers get their groove on at the stunningly beautiful alpine concert venues, surrounded by the twinkling lights of quaint Austrian villages. Glorious spring skiing, a renowned après-ski scene and world-class DJs - did somebody say paradise?

First-class beats

This year Snowbombing features a sweet line-up with big-name headliners including Giggs, Dusky and Blossoms, just to name a few. Talented hip hop artists De La Soul are back by popular demand, as well as some seriously good dubstep by Skream and Artwork. Not to mention, if you’re lucky you’ll spot Snowbombing’s very own Eddie the Eagle, ski jump legend and bona fide British hero!

Killer vibes

When it comes to festival locations, it doesn’t get any cooler than Snowbombing. Headline venues include the massive Racket Club, the mystical Forest Stage and the classic Mayrhofen Brück ’n Stadl and Arena Club. Dance in an honest-to-god igloo at the Arctic Disco and don’t forget to stop by the world’s craziest fancy-dress Street Party, hosted by Elrow. The energy spills onto the mountain itself, where skiers and snowboarders can party it up at the Snowpark Terrace and the Mountain Stage or chill out at Rompa’s Reggae Shack.

World-famous après-ski

For some good ole’-fashioned Mayrhofen après-ski, head over to The Haus or the Ice Bar, or dive into the Pool Party! If you’re hungry, Hans the Butcher offers traditional Austrian grub, and if you’re in the mood for some competition, join the Pongathon for a chance to be the beer pong master. If you’re looking for a place to watch an important match, the Sports Bar has you sorted.

About Danielle

Born and raised in the ski paradise of Vancouver, Canada, I learned to ski before I can remember, balancing precariously on my parents’ skis as they sailed down the hill. I started snowboarding in my teens and am now delighted to be exploring everything Europe’s ski scene has to offer!
