The Stubai Glacier is officially open for the 2019-20 ski season, having received 55cm of fresh snow in the ski area just a few days before its season opening this past weekend. The Austrian ski area enjoyed perfect conditions, with the clouds clearing and sunny blue skies for the first tracks of the season.

Sölden-Hochsölden also kicked off its ski season this weekend with similarly good conditions, and Schnalstal got its own dump of fresh snow in time for its ski season opening this weekend as well. The first glacier ski areas are thus open for the season and there are more on the way, with the Pitztal Glacier, Kaunertaler Glacier and Grande Motte Glacier at Tignes all slated to open by the end of September.
