What's World Snow Day All About?

With 72 locations committed to celebrating World Snow Day 2013 in over 20 countries, in only its 2nd year, this event already has an enormous following. This event is part of the FIS's “Bring Children to the Snow” campaign which was launched in 2007 and celebrating winter sports and promoting them as fun, healthy and social recreational activities for children while at the same time raising awareness of the importance of limiting the impact on the natural environment.

Gian Franco Kasper, President of the FIS: "The first edition of World Snow Day was a great success and we now continue to build on this momentum. Through FIS’s Bring Children to the Snow campaign, we seek to communicate that winter sports are something for everyone. We hope that the 2nd FIS World Snow Day will encourage even more youngsters to take to the snow for the first time and help us foster a future generation of snow lovers."

About Nikki

Being lucky enough to have parents who were crazy about skiing, my love for the mountains started when I was 4 years old on our first family ski holiday to Austrian ski resort of Obergurl. One ski holiday a year was never enough and tears rolled down my face as I looked out the back window of the car on the drive down the valley on the way home!
