Ice Racing Championship

The Andros Trophy is the world’s premier ice racing championship and is held in 6 well-known ski resorts across the European mountains. This event attracts famous racing drivers from motorsport’s world such as F1 World Champions Alain Prost and Jacques Villeneuve, and 1996 Monaco GP winner Olivier Panis!

Two worlds apart

This event offers spectators contrasting images of the natural beauty of the mountains; the snow, ice and snow-covered forests, with fast cars and motorcycles! Few events can beat the unique atmosphere here AND the possibility to meet some famous pilots and some well-known TV stars.

Electrifying!

Spectacular and increasingly popular, The Andros Trophy, now in its 24th year, has recently become an eco-friendly event with its Electric category! The Andros Trophy Electric category, launched in 2010, allows 100% electric-powered vehicles (powered by Saft lithium-ion batteries) to enter the race.

In F1 style

Each weekend includes two race meetings. Each meeting includes a practice session, two qualifying heats and a final round for each driver. The practice sessions allow pilots to refine their set-up and to calibrate against the grip of the track (if there is any!), but do not generate points. The qualifying heats are the real centerpiece of the competition and they determine 80% of the total points. The remaining 20% of points is attributed based on the positions at the finish of the final…

Here’s where you can see this year’s Andros Trophy:

VAL THORENS Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th of December 2012

About Nikki

Being lucky enough to have parents who were crazy about skiing, my love for the mountains started when I was 4 years old on our first family ski holiday to Austrian ski resort of Obergurl. One ski holiday a year was never enough and tears rolled down my face as I looked out the back window of the car on the drive down the valley on the way home!
