Reichenfels is at 809 meters in the Upper Lavanttal. The village got its name from the gold and silver discoveries in the Middle Ages in that valley as "Reichen" literally means "rich". Today the village is especially rich in nature and Reichenfels is known for its lovely hiking trails. The whole area is covered with excellent routes to be discovered in winter and summer on foot. The village is surrounded by several mountains and ski areas. The nearest ski resort is Klippitztörl with 28 kilometers of runs and six ski lifts. This area is especially good for beginners.
