Château-d'Oex (Switzerland)

Château d'Oex has two separate ski areas; La Braye which has 25km of slopes and Monts Chevreuils with 20 kilometers of slopes. They are ideal for families with small children. Unfortunately, neither of them is connected to the ski areas around Gstaad. For snowboarders there are wide slopes and a fun park. The village is the starting point of a 28 kilometer long cross-country trail through Rougemont, Saanen and Gstaad to Gsteig. The area surrounding Château d'Oex is wonderful for walking with, in particular, a 2 mile walk at the top of the ski resort La Braye at 1600 m.
