Elm

The mountain village of Elm in the Sernftal is 15 km east of Braunwald, just on the other side of the Kärpf (2794 m). The ski resort of Elm is on the snowy eastern slope below the imposing summit. The whole village is a monument and its authentic houses make it a very picturesque destination for winter holidays. The village also boasts a remarkable natural phenomenon: in the rocks of the Tschingelhörner is a huge hole, through which a beam of light shines directly onto the Gothic church of the village! Elm is also frequently the host of major ski races. The slopes, 40 kilometers in total, are mostly red and blue with a black run on Steinibach. A 6-seater gondola and several lifts go up to 2105 meters of altitude. A famous resident of the village is Vreni Schneider, who won 5 medals (including 3 gold) at the Winter Games in Calgary and Lillehammer. Along with her sister, she now runs a ski school in the village so you are sure to get good advice here.
