Good starting point for ski mountaineering trips in the area

The ski area at and around the Schnalstaler Glacier stretches to about 3200 metres and is exceptionally varied. Cross-country skiers, snowboarders and alpine skiers are guaranteed perfect winter sports possibilities in a wonderful landscape. Several ski teams have every reason to practise here on a regular basis. But things were different in the past; for centuries the Senales (Schnalstal) was closed off from the outside world during the winter. The first tourists arrived in 1975 after the glacier course was opened at the end of the valley in Kurzras.
