Easily accessible ski lifts
Twelve kilometers north-east of Briançon, on one of the oldest passes in the French Alps, you will find the ski resort of Montgenevre at 1860m above sea level. Despite the expansion of the village and the ski area since the 1960s, the old center of the village is still intact and is full of French charm. Most of the lifts in Montgenevre, even those at the other end of the village, are only 5 minutes walk away.
Montgenèvre has its own pleasant ski area that is perfect for beginners and intermediate skiers. The links to the Milky Way (Via Lattea) ski area, just over the boarder in Italy, offer more for the advanced skier with access to 400 kilometres of ski runs. Snowboarders are in for a real treat here as there is a snowpark in Montgenevre, and two open bowls in the Milky Way ski area as well as some excellent free-riding terrain. This is a rather low-key ski resort with plenty of restaurants but only a few bars and a couple of nightclubs. This is one of the reasons, along with good childcare, that Montgenevre is a popular resort in France for family ski holidays.
