Saint Pierre de Chartreuse

Just a stone’s throw from Grenoble Airport lies Saint Pierre de Chartreuse, a family-friendly ski resort with a historical village centre and charming après-ski scene. The 35km of slopes are best suited to beginners, but expert skiers have some off-piste terrain to play on.

Lans en Vercors

Breathtaking views of the Parc Naturel Regional du Vercors greet skiers and snowboarders at Lans en Vercors. The ski area is best known for its hundreds of kilometres of cross-country trails. However, the downhill ski area which links up with Villard de Lans and Autrans also has 160km of alpine slopes.

Chamrousse

Gorgeous tree-lined pistes and stunning views characterise this former Olympic ski resort, a long-time favourite with British skiers and snowboarders. The family-friendly ski area at Chamrousse has a separate section for beginners and children.

Alpe d'Huez/Vaujany

The Alpe d'Huez ski area, which links up with Vaujany and several other small resorts, is a cosmopolitan ski area with an international vibe and almost 250km of slopes for every level of skier or snowboarder. The ski area is renowned for its highly competent English-speaking ski school instructors, as well as for its freeriding terrain.

Les Deux Alpes

Les Deux Alpes has a snow-sure ski area thanks to its glacier, which also makes it possible to go summer skiing here. Young people flock to this ski resort for the top-notch snow parks, challenging off-piste terrain and wild après-ski scene.

La Grave

La Grave is a bit of an eccentric ski area – with just one lift and one or two marked runs, it’s all about the off-piste here! Expert skiers and snowboarders will be in their element in the endless powder – be safe and remember to hire a guide if you don’t know the area!

La Clusaz

La Clusaz links up with the Massif des Aravis ski area to offer a total of about 250km of pistes and some beautiful cross-country trails. Snowboarders can explore the freestyle terrain near the village centre, while beginner skiers and snowboarders will enjoy the sunny slopes a bit higher up.

Megève

Classy Megève gives access to more than 400km of slopes in the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area. With a jam-packed event calendar, a cosy village centre and a bustling atmosphere both on and off the mountain, this family-friendly ski resort is a perennial favourite.

Serre Chevalier

The ski area of Serre Chevalier boasts 250km of pistes with reliable snow cover, as well as fantastic off-piste terrain that mostly attracts snowboarders. Visitors to Serre Chevalier will have almost 20 diverse villages to choose from, among them Briançon, which is the highest city in France!

Les Saisies

Les Saisies allows relaxed skiing on almost 200km of wide, easy slopes in the Espace Diamant ski area opposite Mont Blanc. The traditional village centre is ski-in, ski-out and gives easy access to the slopes for beginner skiers.
